Number of Centenarians Jumps 44 Per Cent

A new report from the National Center for Health Statistics reveals that the number of people living to 100 has jumped by 44 per cent since 2000, according to the Huffington Post.

As of 2014, there were 72,000 centenarians in the U.S. and the trend is expected to continue as boomers reach old age; by 2050, that number is could top 300,000.  Among those living to 100, women continue to live longer than men making up 80 per cent of the oldest old population.
